Happily there’s no charge to import any existing DLC you might already own for the game, so long as you’re sticking within the one console family - either moving from PS3 to PS4 or Xbox 360 to Xbox One - with the only downside being that your progress in each individual song will not transfer along with it.īoth the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have their own respective exclusive features.

The 1080p visuals look sharp, but don't affect the experience much.Ī year on the game also benefits from the hundreds of songs that have been released regularly as DLC since the game’s last-gen launch (at the time of review, these songs were still in the process of being populated across to the Xbox One's Marketplace and the PS4's PSN Store in dribs and drabs, but Ubisoft claims it will all be available soon). Nothing has changed Rocksmith 2014 is still a really fun way to practice the guitar and its colourful note highways are certainly clearer running at 1080p - even if it doesn't make an appreciable difference to the gameplay. When I reviewed Rocksmith 2014 a year ago, I was enamoured with its expertly curated track list, incredibly useful Riff Repeater tool, expanded Guitarcade games and self-indulgent Session mode.

Unfortunately some slight audio latency issues inherent to the digital-only design of current-gen consoles means that Rocksmith 2014 for PS4 and Xbox One is slightly inferior overall to its last-gen and PC counterparts, but not by much. TL DR: Constant deafening static white noise, goes away when removing Real Tone Cable from PS3.The self-proclaimed fastest way to learn the guitar has slid knee-first onto the current-gen stage, and although it doesn’t bring much in the way of new features, its resolution bump and support for existing DLC libraries facilitates a smooth transition for existing players looking to shift their interactive guitar practice sessions onto shiny new hardware. I can also probably try to upload a video of the problem, should that be neccessary.

I've never played guitar before and had surprising amounts of fun even in the lesson I managed to do (yes, yes, I'm a guitar noob:P ) So I gotta say, II was quite dissappointed that I should get a problem like this with a brand-new product, and it strikes me as weird that a new cable should malfunction like that.Īnyone have any comments or suggestions or ideas? I'll try and answer any additional info that may be needed. However, no solution seems apparent apart from getting a new cable. I've looked abit around on this forum, and the closest matching problem I've found is this: I unpackaged it, and plugged it in, and as I said, it worked fine for a few minutes until this happened. I haven't damaged the cable in any way, it looks completely fine from the outside. Ditto for restarting the system or moving the quarter jack around / up&down (softly) in the guitar. I've tried holding the guitar at all sorts of angles, no help in that. I've tried shutting down absolutely everything else in my house apart from the PS3 and TV, nothing makes an impact. This leads me to think the guitar is not the problem, but the cable is. The same happens if I remove the longer part of the cable (the one that plugs into the guitar) from the short part of the cable, going into the PS3.

If I remove the cable from the PS3, however, it stops instantly. If I unplug the cable from the guitar, the static is still there, unchanged. The static is unchanged by whatever I do with the guitar, obviously, even with the volume on the guitar set to 0. I am now even unable to tune my guitar (the static keeps messing it up, the tone-meter thingie is all over the place). The noise is so loud it renders the game unplayable.

This constant static noise never goes away, and I can barely hear the notes I strum on the guitar.

At the same time a constant, incredibly loud and annoying (almost painful!) white noise /static started blaring out of my TV speakers. As I was retrying the 2nd playing lesson for a better score, the game barely registered any of my simple, ill-timed notes.
